Hilde Nicolau

The past two days have been a blur. Dreams turn into nightmares that don't seem to end upon waking up, only to start from the beginning once day turns to night yet again. The walls, though made of hardened steel, feel like they could be ripped from the seams by whatever monstrous death machine decides to march in.

For about half a day now, Hilde has refused to leave her room, ensuring the door is locked tight - even placing an admittedly non-functional chair leaning against it. In the waking world, away from her nightmares, she at least has her guitar.

Kim :) | ru still up?

Somewhere across the halls of the sleeping quarters, somewhere so close yet so far, there was another woman keeping herself locked in what felt more and more like a deathtrap than a sanctuary of brief safety and reprieve.

Kim felt like she had slept for days, but seeing the date on her slightly cracked phonescreen confirmed that it had indeed only been two since everyone's death sentence was revealed to her in hushed tones. Her sense of time always got messed up when she got like this.

She was not sure how she would even face anyone right now... But she's also pretty sure that the last time she ate something might have been nearly a day ago, and there was only one person she could even consider asking to go get something to eat with her.

Considering Hilde hadn't come drag her to do that already meant she probably hadn't really remembered to eat either.

In the middle of her practice, Hilde notices a message on her phone - from Kim. Something about seeing a text from her brings her back from her state of melancholia - if at least for a temporary period of time. She then feels the more physical aspects of her isolation, namely that her foot fell asleep during practice and, more importantly, that she didn't go have lunch or dinner today. She... doesn't feel too well as a result, but puts the guitar away and starts texting Kim back anyway.

Kim :) | sadly that doesnt mean greek food
Kim :) | just an expression i made up for when u eat dinner at like 10pm
Kim :) | bc apparently greeks just. ate dinner that late for some reason

Thinking about why she even knows any of that hurts, even if it hurts way less than it used to all those years ago.

How many years had it even been since that day..?

Of course, once Kim's there, the lock and chair go back on. The chair brings more comfort right now.

Kim Tulirinta

Kim :) | u had a chair in front of ur door?
Kim :) | damn

That... Was kind of worrying behavior. Her urge to throw in a reassuring joke about how nobody was going to get her just made her feel nauseated.

God, if you're out there; don't let her be the first one.

In about ten minute's time, a familiar knock would sound from Hilde's door. For once, Kim didn't just knock and open, or even straight up come in without warning. She was well aware enough that Hilde was having a shit night... And after opening the door, Hilde would be well aware of how shit of a night Kim had probably been having.

She looked like she had just gotten out of bed and not even taken a single look at her closet, or whatever pile of clothes there might have been on the floor next to her bed; she was wearing her signature camo cargos, but had not bothered to put any shoes or even socks on... And she wasn't wearing a bra under her ridiculously thin tank top, either.

Right now, Kim just straight up didn't care that people might see her body uncovered, not hidden by the shield of an AEUG-issue jacket like it usually would be.

Seems it did something to her spirits at least? Better than doom texting at least...

When she opened the door, Kim could pretty quickly tell that Hilde wasn't doing too well either - her hair was frizzled as if a brush hadn't touched it in year, and she had eschewed wearing anything that weren't her underwear. She didn't even have her glasses on... poor girl likely hadn't had intention of leaving for a while. Her voice was a little dry and quiet upon greeting Kim, not really paying attention to her getup in her current state.

"..Hi, Kim. Room's a.. bit of a mess right now. Sorry."

She smiled... weakly. Her spark wasn't burning too bright today.

Kim Tulirinta

God damn it. Against all of her better judgement, seeing Hilde like this so suddenly made Kim's heart start to race just a little... But she had been able to keep that to herself quite well in the years she had known Hilde, at least when sober, and she was unfortunately quite alcohol-deprived in this moment.

She could keep things together.

"It's okay, De. Mine's probably just as bad." Considering the fact her trashbin had become a makeshift puke bucket... One that she hadn't changed the bag of in a while...

Hers is absolutely worse.

"Um... Do you want me to like. Go to the cafeteria to grab us something? I can text you about the options, or something..." In that moment, she realized that Hilde probably had wanted for Kim to come with food in the first place. Alas, Kim herself had other priorities, it seems.
